For some reason beyond my comprehension the file trees in the repls show up on the right side of the workspace again.
Unfortunately, I seem unable to locate where in the settings I can change that back to the left. Can somebody help me out, please. Thanks!
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to move the file tree pane to the left instead of the right. I eventually asked the Replit AI and it basically said it is now fixed to the righthand side and unable to be changed. ![]()
Thanks a lot for your response!
Actually, thatās what I feared, but I still had some hope that Iām just too dumb to figure it out. Itās a real shame, I find that extremely unintuitive, just as files always opening on the right pane. I donāt understand why Replit takes away the possibility to change such basic stuff.
Thanks again.
Itās now forever on the left side with the library and file tree on the right side.
Library is a new functionality that has to do with Agent 4ās canvas feature.
Iām like you and always enjoyed having it on the right side, but after a couple of days of working with Agent 4, Iāve gotten used to it. Sorry to say youāll have to do the same.
Hey Eric, thanks for chiming in. But, yeah, no ⦠I donāt work with AI on Replit, thatās just not a good fit at all, so I donāt need that stuff anywhere. And nothingās forever with Replit, thatās something you learn over the years (except for the grandiose announcements, of course). So, just another drop in the bucket towards leaving the platform forever (a platform that once was great).
gutted
Itās no longer the platform for you then, Tim. Itās an AI first IDE.
Maybe. The funny thing is that I work happily day in day out with an AI-centered IDE that doesnāt force crude design decision on its users, quite the opposite. AI first doesnāt mean you have to ignore basic design principles, thatās just the Replit-way, at least has been for as long as Iāve been around here as a paying customer (more than 5 years now). They just break stuff, no matter the costs.
(I use Replit predominately as a āmobileā platform (means: when Iām traveling, sitting in a cafe or restaurant, or on a break in the office) for learning, data analysis projects, or prototyping ideas. Iād never use it as a serious development platform for larger and/or complex projects, itās just way too brittle and unreliable for that.)
Indeed, please add the possibility for users to choose the position of the file tree and agent window.
NOā¦. THIS is the way we want you to work. The RIGHT side is OBVIOUSLY better!!!
