Running journal

Hi. I’m a runner and an analyst by trade and by character.

Surprising as it may seem, none of the main platforms (Garmin, Strava, Apple, Coros, Polar, Suunto, TrainingPeaks etc) quite deliver what I’m looking for in terms of data analysis, so using Replit (which has been awesome) I built my own running journal based on a google sheet I’ve kept for the last 14 years.

My goal is to combine essential running stats with contextual data in the form of workout notes and journal entries. My app, BetterMyRun, is a running journal app that combines workout data, training notes and personal journal entries to help runners better understand what’s actually influencing their progress.

It connects with Strava, tracks trends over time and uses AI to turn both stats and life context into meaningful insights. Designed by an endurance runner, it’s built around the idea that performance isn’t just about mileage and pace — sleep, stress, motivation and everyday life matter too.

Features worth taking a look at:

  • add a running goal in the account section and your AI summaries and chats will reference that in the response as long as you check the radio button to include it.
  • all data fully filterable. Instead of using the unreliable “Grade Adjusted Pace” that other apps use, just filter your like-for-like runs, or used combined filters to look at groups of runs that match the same criteria. This is the best way to see actual progress.
  • use the journal to record anything that is relevant from a non running day: injury recovery status etc.
  • use AI to get a summary of your overall performance
  • use AI to talk to your data: for example, ask it to give you a percentage chance of meeting your running goal.

There’s a list of features on the home page.

I’m looking for feedback. For anybody interested in trying it out you can use the code REPLITTESTERS100 to get a 100% discount on AI tokens which you can use to try out the AI summary feature and the also chat to your data. (any problems, reply to me on this thread and I’ll help)

There’s also a hotjar feedback tab for anybody who is willing to leave me a quick bit of feedback.

Thanks in advance.

This is really interesting. I will take a look. I do this mentally but would be interesting to log it and analyze the impact.

Great. Thank you for checking it out. If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch via the email address on the site and I’ll help out.

I hope you find it useful.
