Replit spinning, and Error [ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND]: Cannot find module '/home/runner/workspace/node_modules/vite/dist/node/chunks/dist.js'

The replit left bar just has a spinning wheel
I tried to logout and login
I tried to stop the app and run the app
But with no luck
I thought it was some downtime, but now I have waited a few hours (2+) and still the same problem

There was an error

Error [ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND]: Cannot find module '/home/runner/workspace/node_modules/vite/dist/node/chunks/dist.js'

what am I missing ?

or is this a Replit bug ?

Have you tried asking Replit Agent to help with this? Sometimes the dependencies just need to be reinstalled.

You could try this prompt in Agent:

My project won't start and I'm getting this error: "Cannot find module '/home/runner/workspace/node_modules/vite/dist/node/chunks/dist.js'"

Please check if my dependencies are installed correctly and reinstall them if needed. The left sidebar is just showing a spinning wheel.

Agent should be able to diagnose and fix the node_modules issue for you.

Interesting, I see you are referring to the Replit workspace spinning. Have you tried a different browser or an incognito browser to rule out caching issue? If so, another thought is to try double clicking the dividing vertical line between where Agent usually appears and the ‘Preview’ pane to ‘close’ Agent and then try reopening.

Unfortunately I have tried that too…

  1. Icognito window/browser (Chrome)
  2. Restart browser
  3. Double click divider and run the app , and agent
  4. Refreshing page
  5. Logout - Login
  6. tried Firefox instead of Chrome, in private mode

I have been having the same issues.

Sorry to hear that didn’t work @tobiasaeriksson. I see @cigarpadre mentioned having the same issue. @cigarpadre do you also have the ‘Upgrade’ button in the header of the Replit workspace as well? Wondering if that is a common factor.

I am a little puzzled…. the replit pricing says, “Free daily credits”, it does not say anything about a monthly max. There is a text indicating that I have reached a monthly max and it will reset in 14 days , see screenshot below.
Is there some sort of fineprint somewhere where it says there is a monthly limit ? I wish someone from Replit would be here to answer.

There is a monthly limit…. (I think this should have been clearer in the pricing page)

Curious to hear if @cigarpadre is in same boat. If so, it is a UI bug IMO for the Agent to be spinning when you hit your max on the free plan.
