My Fact/Statement verification app: "From The Record"

Happy birthday Replit! (Staff & company!)

This is the app I built. I often find myself debating truths with colleagues, friends and family on various things (ie politics), so with Replit, I built a “Fact Verifying” app. I got tired of hearing the same old talking points and wanted to do more with it.

Per The Replit Agent: The Record is a fact-checking web app that lets anyone verify claims from text, screenshots, podcasts, YouTube videos, or pasted documents. You drop in a statement (or upload a source), and it pulls out the factual claims, checks each one against credible sources using AI, and gives you a clear verdict — true, false, misleading, or unverifiable — with linked citations you can follow yourself.

It’s built for people who want to push back on dubious headlines, vet quotes from speeches and interviews, or just settle an argument with receipts. The app also includes timelines of a claim’s development and origin. I’ve built in features to offer primary sources, relevant links, books or publications whether opinions based, court docs or even academic research.

I had a lot of fun building this, I had even signed up for core to help get it done and I guess I got blessed ya’ll were celebrating, thank you!

Please let me know if you like it or if it needs work, I spent a lot of time breaking it in to make sure I could get past small issues (like video transcripts, PDF uploads, timeout per requests etc.) It’s my first ever deployment so I still have questions on how to maintain the project. I did watch Matt’s video on Deployment Masterclass, it helped though I still think I have plenty of questions to come.

Enjoy!
