Been working on wrapping up the page, implementing final ui revisions but I wanted to show the backend import function working as I import half a million diamonds into the database. It has been written to handle the import from ftp download of CSVs in chunks of 100 with resume functionality, checking against items already in the system, archiving, etc. I have a backend UI to handle the import. The system is designed to run daily to update and cross-check hundreds of thousands of diamond records, and we will scale up to millions of records in a few months. I haven’t enabled checkout right now I am still working on the ui since I have been spending my time getting all the backend management systems to work with this much data. I have only used about half a gig of data thus far importing and clearing out and re-importing but this will be the 2nd time I do a full import this month so I’ll report back on any extra data usage. I think we’re getting down to to getting a working diamond search engine and management system soon, we are excited to get this launched.
