I'm the equivalent of an old man on Replit. Gonna tell you stuff about the good old days

Been here since 2024. I remember the social days when AI was fully free and there were templates everywhere. People could share their repls with other users and I think I remembered there was the ability to comment on other peoples repls. Also, you used to be able to install and uninstall packages through GUI instead of through files or command-line. Also apps were not called apps back then, they were called “repls”. The filesystem was on the left side instead of the right side. Replit did have free GPU support back then instead of CPU-only free repls. Finally, I think the flash in free repls used to be 16GB~ back then instead of 2GB or 3GB like it is now. It’s hard to remember the other details from back then, kind of getting hazy…

Fun fact, Replit had a good prototype called JSREPL.

Another fun fact, Replit used to be open-source but the repo hasn’t been updated since 2016: GitHub - replit-archive/repl.it: https://repl.it/feedback Online REPL for 15+ languages. · GitHub

Lots of people still call them repls.
