App transfer between accounts - now available

Not sure if I’m late to the party, but I’ve just noticed this is available:

  • transfer an app in its entirety from my Core account to my Organisation account. Just tried it, took seconds. Nice!!

This has always been possible. Unfortunately, it’s the most useless direction for it to work. It stands to reason a ‘team’ or ‘pro’ org would be building something commercially and releasing to a client on a ‘core’ account for continued maintenance and ownership.

It needs to be a two lane street.

Definitely wasn’t available on my account before - I’ve moved some manually in the past.

Well, you did take a really long holiday!

Yep, and required for external collaboration. You will not see the “Access” button at the upper right without moving your app to a Team workspace (organization).

Once you move to the team workspace, the “Access” button will be visible and you’ll now be able to grant roles/privileges to collaborators.

There’s no role that grants a collaborator write privilege to update/modify “Secrets,” however (unless you grant admin role same as yourself).

Glad it worked for you. I had a tiny bit of a bumpy experience doing same. I was using a personal account but enjoyed Replit enough that I switched to an org (even tho it’s still just me) for the expanded credits, etc.

When I did the transfer, some apps got garbled and me - being super impatient and thinking everything worked - I deleted the apps on my personal account. Then something went amiss and a few didn’t make it over to the org. The apps were lost in cyberspace!!1!

I contacted support and they were able to salvage some. I salvaged a few of the missing from GitHub reloads. In the end got back all but one app. However that lost one I rebuilt quickly (hooray for vibe coding!) and it came out with a much improved UI.

So all’s well that ends well. Lessons learned:

  1. Don’t delete the old until you’re sure it’s in the new.
  2. Sync every single app to GitHub all the time - it’s a great backup (this is new to me as I am new to GitHub)
  3. Be patient ya fool! (this one applies to me)

Vibe on, friends!
