Continuing the discussion from Today replit charges me $50 every hour:
In my opinion, Replit needs to consider using us less as guinea pigs, who still pay a high price for being guinea pigs. There’s no doubt how much they’ve truly evolved the system, but the cost has evolved along with it (if not more), while the actual productivity gains for the developer are still quite questionable. For example: the testing agent. I tried using it a few times but still found it impractical; it loops, testing the same thing indefinitely without getting anywhere, but they charge for it. By the way, be careful when requesting a change from the agent while testing is active and leaving it running. When you return, you might be surprised to find that you spent $2 on the fix, and the testing agent has already billed you $30 in a loop without doing anything. I’ve stopped trying to use it; I believe it will truly be fantastic, but I’ll wait for the fixes (if Replit didn’t charge for beta testing of new features, there would be many more people testing and validating). Another thing I notice is that every time Replit releases a more powerful “optional” model, the “standard” model gets dumber, as if pushing us to use the new (obviously more expensive) model. They insistently increase the cost, trying to make us believe we’re winning.
