Just wanted to share that Assistant will soon be evolving into Fast Mode where you will continue to have:
Quick responses
Targeting editing
More accurate fixes
Due to these improved updates Assistant will be sunset on December 10 for free users and December 31 for paying customers.
Weāll continue to improve the Fast Mode experience and anticipate that it will provide better value and performance for all of our users. To learn more about Fast Mode, check out the documentation here!
We understand that this was a popular feature and encourage you to share any of your thoughts and feedback in this post. Will be actively sharing more widely with the internal team over the next week!
Iām really unhappy that Replit are removing assistant. I think there will be a massive backlash. With a heavy heart, I am personally thinking of moving my project over to a new platform.
This is the worst news Iāve heard all year. Itās a disaster for my workflow and now Iāll spend 3 weeks figuring out how to migrate instead of building features.
half my posts now go to a moderator for hours to approve (and never get approved) since they may be respectfully critical even though that has never happened in my history of posting
I literally spent the last 3 hours in cursor getting my main app uploaded and running and trying to figure out a persistent dev url via cloudflare since I like to test oauth and stripe webhooks with a persistent dev url that Replit has. It sucks spending time on migration instead of building. Once I figure out the dev URL and deployment Iāll be ready to switch over but itās going to be weeks of work I didnāt want to do and would have been happy continuing to pay you $300 a month for assistant edits for 20 published apps and 1 main project I spend 4 hours a day working in replit on. Iām fuming still after seeing the notice 4 hours ago. I was an evangelist, now Iām just disappointed. I read all the trash talk about Replit on Reddit from people who expect miracles and chime in on how to better approach the product. Iām running an actual business because of its magic and now you take away an incredible feature - literally the only reason I use the product - for actual people investing in and using the platform. Show me actual software apps making $10k a month in revenue using agent and shipping progress daily. Fast Agent is not even relevant compared to assistant for people who want to review every file and actually iterate instantly and pick and choose files to approve. I actually think you should be iterating on assistant giving it more options instead of sunsetting for agent. You have customers that spend a good amount and will grow and retain forever, and you have customers that will spend a lot quickly and not build anything meaningful and disappear. This choice favors the latter which is disappointing.
Honestly everyone, I respect many got attached to the assistant, but Iām really not sure what it was capable of doing that agent canāt.
If Replit dressed up agentās low autonomy and/or plan modes and gave it an āassistantā name badge, I am not sure anyone would know the difference.
I agree. I used free fast mode for a few days and it reminded me of the old replit agents that fix mistakes while introducing another one ā but marginally better. To fix a mistake takes 4 or 5 attempts. I hit the sweet spot with Assistant and was becoming a huge fan and started dumping more time and money into replit projects. And have been planning more.
I imagine this change is being made because Assistant wasnāt profitable ā too much bang for buck ā thereās no other explanation for downgrading the ability of an agent (and increasing the cost).
Not sure what the most effective way to migrate to a different platform. Are there any references out there? Iām thinking I may need to do a rebuild using my replit pages as template or prompt.
I actually think itās more because Assistant liked to bugger things up and caused a support pipeline clog. It had free reign in places it shouldnāt.
But, yeah, you canāt make up a loss in volume. Thatās certainly part of it.
Strong Disagreement with the Removal of āAssistantā and Forced Migration to āFast in Agentā
Dear Replit Team,
I am writing to express my profound disappointment and strong disagreement with the decision to sunset the Assistant feature on December 30th, 2025, and to push users toward Fast in Agent.
For my specific workflow and development needs, the current Assistant is exceptionally functional and serves my requirements very well. I have found it to be a highly effective and valuable tool within the Replit environment.
In stark contrast, my experience with the Fast in Agent feature has been extremely negative. I find it to be significantly lacking, and it simply does not meet my needs or respond to my requests in a satisfactory manner. The suggestion to switch is a downgrade, not an improvement, for my usage.
I use Replit precisely because of the capabilities offered by the current Assistant. If this essential tool is removed and I am forced to rely on the inadequate performance of Fast in Agent, I must inform you that I will not be renewing my Replit subscription(s).
I urge you to seriously reconsider this decision and maintain the Assistant feature, or to ensure that Fast in Agent achieves functional parity before forcing a migration.
Thank you for your time and attention to this critical matter.
I too must voice my dissatisfaction with this plan. Assistant in its current form is really the main reason why I continue using replit. Please reconsider this decision.
