Replit Agent is duplicating complete source files without being instructed to edit them. Multiple unrelated files were rewritten at virtually the same timestamp, with several complete copies appended to each file. This caused Vite compilation failures. I restored a previously successful checkpoint, but I’m now unable to work. The ticket has been opened and no update has been provided on ETA.
And what’s really annoying is that I’m not even using the agent, it my hard work that this this menacing thing is overwriting, the thing has gone rougue.
Replit team’s response
Our engineering team is actively investigating a bug where the Agent can end up duplicating file content during a checkpoint or task merge, and we’ve confirmed this is affecting multiple projects.
I’m placing this ticket on hold while the investigation is underway, and I’ll follow up here as soon as we have more information or a fix in place.
